Tamasine, twin sister of fellow selector DJ Helz is also one half of Dubstep duo The Steppahs.
Started out spinning on pirate radio in Manchester about 9 years ago and has never lost the love. Having joined fellow enthusiast DJ Tay in 2007 to form The Steppahs, they were regularly putting out mix cds to the masses and handing them out to ravers at whichever club they happened to be at. Soon becoming residents at Metropolis and HitnRun and hosting their own show on Radio Frequency FM created more interest and to date they have worked the crowds at Outlook Festival, Ministry Of Sound, Warehouse Project, All Out Dubstep (Sweden), HitnRun, That Dubstep Night, Tektronik, Dubspot, The Producers House to name a few. Snapped up by Cooly G the pair are currently signed to her label Dub Organizers with a release soon to come. Concentrating on solo material and DJ sets at the moment Tamasine draws influence from old school and current movements in electronic music and is known for selecting bass heavy body moving material in her sets. Tay has been DJing since 2003. Firstly playing drum and bass at nights such as Metropolis, Hit & Run and Industry Artists. Then in 2007 she joined forces with Tamasine and they began playing dubstep as The Steppahs. The Steppahs raised eyebrows with their mix cd’s and dubplates from some of the best producers in the scene. Over the years they have played at many well-respected nights such as All Out Dubstep Sweden, Dub Organizers London, Outlook Festival Croatia, Metropolis Leeds and That Dubstep Newcastle.
Tay and Tamasine are now concentrating on separate music paths. Tay is deeply rooted in the dubstep scene. Expect to hear sounds from Deep Medi, Chestplate, Blackbox, Bass ‘n’ Love, Team Starfleet, Tempa Recordings and more.
