Dr Weevil is a turntablist with some impressive battle stats from recent years, including appearances in the last 4 UK finals of the DMC Battle for Supremacy and numerous top 3 placings in DMC regional battles around the country. His turntable skills have seen Weevil performing throughout Europe for a number of years, including recent shows in Rome, Vienna, Geneva, Dresden, Brussels, and the Glastonbury Festival.
As a member of the Desert Storm collective for the last 8 years, Dr Weevil has been producing and releasing tracks in a hard tekno/jungle/reggae/hip-hop mash-up style alongside long-time collaborator DJ Pseudonym, under the name Civil Unrest: so far the pair have released a full-length album with Parisian label Ozore Age, as well as numerous 12” vinyl and digital download singles with a variety of European and UK labels.
Dr Weevil is currently working on new battle sets for 2012 and compiling material for the 2nd Civil Unrest album, as well as gradually filling up this year’s tour diary, with shows in Milan, Belfast’s ‘Sonorities’ festival, Ostrava (Czech), and the ‘Umbria Elettro Festival’ in the pipeline.
The Dr Weevil show celebrates a diverse range of hip-hop, from local Yorkshire acts, to the wider UK scene, to US and other international artists, and also showcases the best in turntable/scratch music from a variety of genres.
