DJ Fingaz

Posted by Admin On March - 7 - 2011

When Fingaz was 12, his brother (Jason Fakeerah) taught him how to mix. First learning with hip hop, then progressing into multiple genres.

When his confidence and skills grew, he joined a local up and coming crew called GFC who started to progress more into UK garage

As time progressed he started to try his hand as an MC and in 2001 GFC joined with another crew, and renamed themselves LS7 Battlers and evolved into grime.

The LS7 Battlers soon became the biggest grime crew to come out of Leeds. DJ Fingaz became an intergral part of the cew, being the main DJ and also being handy with the mic too, his highlights from the LS7 battlers days apart from featuring on many mixtapes, dvds and mix cd’s was he got to DJ for The Battlers live on BBC 1Xtra on 2 seperate occassions on DJ CAMEO’s show!

When The Battlers started to do more of there own projects, and grime wasn’t as it once was, he moved into the bassline scene and thats where things grew further. Establishing himself more as a club DJ, playing clubs around Yorkshire, plus getting his own shows on Radio Frequency and starting his own productions. DJ Fingaz has become a prominent name in the local bassline scene. Playing at nights with DJs like EZ, Jamie Duggan, Paleface, DJ Q, Cameo to name a few and holding down a residency at club puro, Leeds.

Some of his productions were requested to be featured on DJ EZ’s pure garage compilation series, but due to legalities never made the final cut and also on Paleface CD for rinse, where he made the cut.

You can catch Fingaz on radio frequency online http://www.radiofrequencyfm.co.uk/
Every Thursday from 15:00 till 18:00 playing a mash up of Garage, Grime, UK Funky, Bassline & Dubstep!

Fingaz still plays sets in the clubs, various nights in the region such as Groove Theory and Skanking but he is currently spending most of his time in the studio, heading in a new direction and will be releasing some fresh tracks under a ‘Dubstep’ alias very soon… BOOM!!!!
